A day that changed our lives, and immigration law.
on Sep 11, 2010
Today is an auspicious date to remember, not only in American history, but in world history as well, because the tragic events of that day - September 11, 2001 - changed the ways all people and governments look at the world. No one was spared. And because of the fear it engendered, many people and governments began making changes to protect themselves and their citizens better.
One U.S. government agency that was impacted greatly was the former U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS), which controlled who came into the U.S., who could stay and who should not be allowed to stay. One of the outcomes of the changes that began happening after “9/11” was the formation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under which falls the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), U.S. Investigations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It is primarily with these agencies that our immigration law office liaises in order to help our clients.
As a result of these and many other changes in our government laws and regulations, it has become more difficult for any person to navigate through, and keep up with, the myriad new and continually changing laws, regulations and procedures relating to immigration. For these reasons, our office is here to Help You - the client - achieve the immigration benefits for which you are asylum or in removal (deportation) proceedings.
We’re not miracle workers, and at times we may not succeed, but we promise we will do our best for you to increase your changes of attaining your American dream. We look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Ellen Gorman, Esq.
